Based on the theme of the collection, the runway was also designed with angular structures with metallic yarns. “Each of these spaces contains multiple tensile yarn pyramids stacked together, forming a crystal-like installation structure,” says a description on the designers’ Instagram page.
The collection had ruffle gowns, lehengas, pre-draped sarees and a couple of pantsuits. The traditional saree was given a modern twist and a new look! It was a new bridal wear collection!
The show started with a model wearing a two-tone metallic gown with a corded cape. It had intricate embellishments on it. Also, it would be a dress a bride could choose for her sangeet or reception! From metallic sheer gowns to ankle-length to pleated ones, the gowns blurred lines between traditional Indian wear and western couture styles.
The color palette consisted of metallic shades of silver, rose gold, ivory along with topaz, emerald and onyx – all the jewel tones! Lehengas were seen with a new twist! Strapless blouse paired with beaded embroidered lehenga and corded dupatta that looked like a cape was the outfit that caught my eye!
Showstopper: Shilpa Shetty
Showstopper: Shilpa ShettyFamous Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty Kundra walked the ramp as the showstopper. She wore a plum-colored new age saree with intricate laser-cut geometric embellishments and brands’ signature polymer details on it. It was paired with a sleeveless blouse with a plunging, geometric V-neckline. Although halter is so out for 2018, so that’s a no for us!
The design and color of the jewelry matched effortlessly with the outfits. Glossy, metallic makeup that matched to the outfits was done and hair was kept sleek and slicked! However, we didn’t enjoy the pale silver poly glitter – so 2001.
Overall, Amit Aggarwal collection at India Couture Week 2018 was innovative and had attention to detail in all its outfits! The collection seemed to celebrate the beauty of feminine fashion!
