Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 collection titled “Chinoiserie at heart” mixed the fashion house’s signature symbols with pure, feminine silhouettes and an Oriental theme.

1. Orientalism: Inspiration drawn from China & Japan
The latest Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 collection had a strong oriental theme. With dragon motifs, lotuses and hanfus borrowed from China, and kimonos borrowed from Japan, the show was rightly titled “Chinoiserie at heart”.
2. Saturated Hues
Saturated colors, particularly blood red and fuchsia are Schiaparelli favorites. Mix lemon yellow and brick red with some golds into an otherwise white and black palette to get a feel of this collection.
3. The Lobster Dress
‘Nuf said!
4. The Hearts and Other Schiaparelli House Symbols, Especially on Shoes
The boots had heart-shaped cut-outs, and the pumps had Y and heart-shaped straps. Hands, pierced hearts, suns, padlocks and eyes were also seen, just like always!
5. Cage Pendants on Bead Necklaces
Quite somethings – these necklaces. On strings of red and maroon beads, these gold cage shaped pendants hung, sometimes becoming a necklace, and sometimes – waist-chains.
6. Color-blocking is Back!
Add stripes of red and fuschia to a black and white pattern for a floaty dress, and mix shapes, stripe-widths for some interest.
7. As Are White Pants and Shoes
White shoes are in our round up of the top shoe trends for Spring Summer 2017. And white pants would be great for formal parties and work alike!
8. Wear Your Dress Over Your Pants (But Hopefully Not Like This!)
We’re seeing the dress over pants trend in Chanel too. But I’m not so fond of this too-much-pattern-on-pattern-with-clashing-colors combination. Please!
9. Capes and Cape-Sleeves
Capes are not going out of fashion anytime soon. We saw asymmetric capes, long floor-sweeping capes, and even a cape dress to start the show!
10. And the Floating Cape
This one’s attached to the sheer top panel of the white dress, giving it the look of floating over a strapless gown. So goddess-like!
