Engagement is the perfect occasion for grooms to make a statement with their attire. Here are 2016’s best designer Indian engagement dresses for grooms.
Its that time of year again, love is in the air and the wedding season is just around the corner. So preparations have begun and that simple fact inevitably brings up the question, “What should the groom wear to his engagement party?” Because Indian weddings come with the expectations to wear traditional clothing, but the big fat Indian wedding is surrounded by all the parties and ceremonies. And amongst all these celebrations, the one occasion where you can really experiment and play it up is the engagement ceremony!
This year we have lots of gorgeous dresses to choose from Indian designers’ collections in Lakme Fashion Week and online shopping sites. We’ve looked through them all, and here are our favorite 10 designer engagement dresses. Every groom-to-be is sure to find his perfect outfit for engagement here. Let’s go!
Engagement Dresses for Groom
If you’re going for something traditional like sherwani on your wedding day, it’s a great idea to experiment with Indo-western attire on your engagement day. Or you could go for a tuxedo or classic three-piece suit. If you prefer something traditional, or are wearing a tux on your wedding, go for sherwani or bundhgala for your engagement ceremony. Switching up between these on different occasions is a good idea because it gives more variety in your wedding pictures, and keeps your guests guessing!
Try a classic three piece suit. Black, navy, cream, steel grey, burgundy and beige are all good colors for engagement. Navy blue color jacket which is in trend would look classy paired with black pants. Here’s one designed by Manish Malhothra.
To look trendy, one can opt for an Indo-western suit. Pastel colored embroidered jackets look great when paired with formal pants. My favorite look is this one designed by Manish Malhotra.
The second best option is bundhgala. You can choose something with bold botanical motifs or all over embroidery paired with loose pants or chooridar. This would be a great option for groom-to-be for his engagement ceremony.
Embroidered silk bundhgala with long jacket would look classy for the engagement ceremony. Here’s my personal favorite one, designed by Manish Malhotra again.
Kurta with Jacket:
Yet another semi-traditional idea is a kurta paired with formal jacket. It’s great for small engagement ceremonies.
Sherwanis are a great option for large engagement parties. The latest trends in sherwani include asymmetric, one-sided embroidery and all-over embroidery with bold patterns. My favorite is this one designed by Rohit Bal.
Sherwani with payjamas would also be a great pair and a great option for groom to wear for the ceremony.
