Many trends like thigh-high slits, pockets and belts dominated the runways in Spring Summer 2017 Ready-to-Wear and Couture collections. And we went through all the runway collections to predict these top trends for the season. Let’s check them out here.
13 Latest Gown Trends
1. Sheer Gowns
We saw sheer gowns in many of our favorite designer collections like Dior, Elie Saab, Valentino, Ralph & Russo, etc. These sheer gowns let you show a little bit of your skin and make you look hot and sexy! We saw strapless and full sleeved sheer gowns. In most of the gowns, the translucence was just confined to the lower body. In case you wanna try this trend boldly, try the black sheer gown by Valentino.
2. Embellished Gowns
From accessories to shoes to apparel, the embellishment trend is making waves on the runway. Of course, we have been seeing this trend in evening dresses also. We saw sheer gowns with embellishments and embellished gowns with patchwork. I loved the embellished princess-y gown by Zuhair Murad.
3. Gowns with Belts
Belts are so, so trendy this season on evening dresses. Just add a belt to your gown to follow this trend effortlessly. Both sleek and broad belts are trendy. You can either pair a belt to match your gown or try something statement like metallic or embellished ones.
4. Appliquéd Gowns
We have seen applique in gowns in just a couple of collections but expect it to be big in 2017. We’re especially loving floral applique on the entire gown. So romantic!
Out of all the latest gown trends of 2017, this one is my favorite! We saw many designers following the art theme on the gowns. We predict this trend to be a huge hit this year. We saw artworks on entire gowns like Schiaparelli and Valentino collections. We also saw some designers follow this trend in a minimalistic way, like Alice + Olivia and Dior.
We have been seeing the ruffle trend for past few seasons and it is making waves this season, too! Both ruffles on entire gown (Alexis Mabille) or some part of it (Dior) are trendy. We saw long frills and wavy draping.
7. Statement Sleeves
In the Spring Summer 2017 shows, we saw the focus being more on the sleeves. Statement sleeves are the trend for minimalistic gowns and printed ones. We saw ruffled sleeves to flared to embellished ones. I love the gown by Alexis Mabille – a green plain gown with a matching belt and embroidered sleeves.
8. Metallic Gowns
The trend of metallics is booming this season. We saw gold, copper and silvery black metallic colors in gowns. Flaunt your style this season with your favorite one!
9. Feather Gowns
Feathers add volume to the gown and make it look poofy and adorable. Many designer collections like Chanel, Givenchy, etc. used feathers in the gowns in sleeves and hems. I loved the look by Ralph & Russo – a long gown with a feathery cape.
10. Slit Gowns
Show off your sleek slender legs this season, because thigh-high slits are still in trend. These are best choice for those who want a dramatic look. Both side and front slit gowns are trendy.
11. Pocket Gowns
Choose a gown with pockets to get a semi-formal look. Blake Lively was spotted wearing a gown with pockets to the Golden Globe awards 2017. So, try this celeb-inspired trend for a chic look!
12. Gowns with Capes
Both long trail capes and cropped capes, were seen in the fashion week. Choose a floor-sweeping caped gown to make a dramatic entrance.
13. Plunging V-Neckline
If you wanna show off your cleavage, then this trend is for you! Wear them to your fanciest parties to attract all the eye balls! If you wanna try this trend in a bolder way, then put on a sheer gown with plunging V-neckline.
